Chapter 9 - the bloodline revealed
Anna sat frozen on the terrace, tears spilling over her rosy cheeks as the incredible truth settled into her heart.
"You saved my life eight years ago..." Anna murmured, her voice trembling with profound emotion.
"And your daughter saved my estate two weeks ago," Dominic said softly, picking up the manila envelope Marco had left on the table.
He unsealed the top latch and pulled out the legal genetic analysis document. He turned the page so Anna could see the red official seal stamped at the bottom.
Anna looked down at the paper, reading the bold black lettering near the center: 99.99% BIOLOGICAL MATCH - DOMINIC MORETTI AND LILY CARTER.
Anna gasped, dropping her glass of wine onto the terrace floor, where it shattered into a thousand glittering pieces. She stared at the paper, then looked up at Dominic in absolute, stunned disbelief.
"Dominic... how?" Anna breathed, her voice cracking. "My husband... he died before Lily was born... I thought—"
"Your late husband was a covert operative working for my father's private security team," Dominic revealed, his voice filled with deep, protective warmth. "He married you legally on paper to give you a safe identity after the accident. But six weeks before your accident... the night at the estate gala in Boston... do you remember who you were with?"
Anna’s eyes widened as the final, missing piece of her memory fell into place—a rainy night in Boston, a secret penthouse suite, and a powerful, handsome man whose face she had been unable to remember after her trauma.
"It was you..." Anna whispered, covering her mouth with both hands as fresh tears flowed down her face. "Lily... Lily is your daughter."

Dominic stood up, walking around the table. He dropped to one knee in front of Anna, holding both of her trembling hands in his broad, warm palms.
"She is my daughter, Anna," Dominic said, his dark eyes shining with intense love and devotion. "And I am going to spend every single day of my life being the father she deserves... and the husband you have waited for."
