Chapter 12 - IMOGEN’S CONSEQUENCES

Imogen’s case did not end with a dramatic courtroom collapse.

It ended in layers.

The kennel incident was documented by security footage.

Dulcie’s restraint.

Witness statements.

Imogen’s admission.

Legal consequences followed for unlawful restraint and child endangerment-related conduct according to the evidence and jurisdiction.

Her unauthorized possession of Dulcie’s necklace was returned without separate criminal dispute.

Financial and trust manipulation produced civil claims.

Her private investigator’s lawful work remained lawful.

Her use of false representations to Claire created additional civil exposure.

Some conduct was cruel but not criminal.

Important distinction.

Stellan did not demand invented charges.

Grace made sure.

Imogen entered a negotiated resolution on several matters.

Protective no-contact order regarding Dulcie and Maeve.

Restitution for certain improper professional expenses.

Withdrawal from all Corsaro-related trust claims.

No guardianship standing.

No marriage.

Obviously.

Her personal wealth remained hers where legitimate.

Stellan wanted separation, not confiscation.

That surprised people.

Good.

During one proceeding Imogen gave a statement.

“I believed if I did not control the discovery, I would lose the life I had built.”

Stellan listened.

She continued.

“I told myself Dulcie was spoiled.”

“I told myself Maeve was a legal problem.”

“I told myself Stellan’s deceased wife had too much influence over a house she no longer lived in.”

Then:

“I stopped seeing children.”

That sentence mattered.

She cried.

Stellan did not confuse tears with repair.

Still:

truth.

Afterward Grace asked:

“Do you forgive her?”

“No.”

“Do you need to?”

“No.”

Good.

Maeve and Dulcie were never asked publicly.

Correct.

Imogen sent one letter to Dulcie through therapist review.

Dulcie chose to read it.

I am sorry I locked you in the kennel.

I was angry because you found something I wanted hidden.

You did not cause my choices.

Your mother’s necklace belonged to you.

Dulcie folded it.

Then asked:

“Can I throw it away?”

“Yes.”

She did.

Closure can be simple.

Maeve refused Imogen’s letter entirely.

Also valid.

The Twin Provision was activated properly after paternity and identity documentation.

The assets split into equal protected trusts.

Dulcie’s branch.

Maeve’s branch.

Independent trustees.

No Stellan control.

No Claire control over capital beyond appropriate guardian benefits.

No future spouse control.

Grace redesigned the structure.

Stellan asked:

“What if the girls hate this when they’re adults?”

“Then they can make adult choices within legal limits.”

Good.

No child forced to carry the empire.

Then Stellan made a larger decision.

He began separating legitimate Corsaro businesses fully from the criminal network attached to his name.

Not because one revelation transformed him magically.

Because two daughters existed.

One had been hidden because his world made her useful as leverage.

That was enough.

Some operations closed.

Others sold.

Some employees moved into lawful companies.

Some people left.

Some investigations proceeded without interference.

No overnight clean slate.

Real restructuring.

No successor boss.

No child heir.

Dulcie heard the phrase “successor” once and asked:

“Can Maeve do it?”

Stellan stared.

“No.”

Maeve, visiting nearby:

“Do what?”

“Be Mafia Boss.”

Maeve looked horrified.

“No!”

May you like

Dulcie laughed.

Stellan considered the problem solved.
