Chapter 8 - the promise on the terrace

By midnight, the storm had passed, leaving the night air fresh and cool.
Back at the Castellano estate, the terrace lights shone brightly, casting a golden reflection over the manicured rose gardens below.
Adelina stood near the stone balustrade, wearing a soft cream wool sweater over her housekeeping dress. She looked out at the city lights of Rome, feeling a sense of peace she hadn't known in three agonizing years.
Soft, heavy footsteps sounded behind her. Enzo stepped onto the terrace, carrying two warm cups of tea. He handed one to Adelina, his broad hand brushing against her fingers.
"Julian and his accomplices have been removed," Enzo said quietly, looking out at the gardens. "Your husband’s name has been completely cleared. The syndicate council has officially recognized Matteo Rossi as a hero who died protecting our family."
Adelina closed her eyes, tears of gratitude slipping down her cheeks. "Thank you, Enzo... thank you for giving my husband his dignity back."
Enzo stepped closer to her, his tall, broad frame blocking the cold mountain breeze. He reached out, gently using his thumb to wipe away her tears.
"You don't need to wear that housekeeping uniform anymore, Adelina," Enzo said softly, his voice rich with deep emotion. "You and Sophia are no longer employees here."
Adelina looked up into his dark eyes, her heart beating fast. "Enzo... where will we go?"
"You aren't going anywhere," Enzo said firmly, taking her small hand into his broad palm. "This estate is your home now. I have legally transferred twenty percent of the Castellano holdings into a private trust for Sophia. And as for you..."
Enzo paused, looking down at her with a raw, fierce tenderness that made her breath catch in her throat.
"I want you by my side, Adelina," Enzo whispered, his dark eyes searching hers. "Not as a housekeeper... but as my partner."
May you like
Adelina looked into the eyes of the man who had protected her, saved her daughter, and avenged her past. "Yes, Enzo," she whispered softly. "Yes."
Enzo leaned down, pressing his lips against hers in a passionate, deep kiss under the moonlight, sealing their future together.
