Chapter 6

The heavy mahogany doors of the ballroom swung open violently as Damian strode out into the grand hallway. He moved with a fast, predatory grace, his perfectly tailored midnight-black tuxedo catching the cinematic lighting of the estate. He dialed a secure number on his phone, raising it to his ear.
"Mobilize the strike teams," Damian barked into the receiver, his American accent sharp and unyielding. "I want four armored SUVs at the front portico in exactly sixty seconds. Heavy weapons, tactical gear. We are going to war."
"Target, Boss?" his chief tactical officer asked over the line.
"The northern suburbs," Damian replied. "I am sending you a name: Leo. Run a real-time database sweep of all foster families in that sector. Find the address and send it to my dashboard. We have a hostile extraction crew from the Sterling faction currently on site."
"Understood. Moving now."
Damian pocketed the phone and continued his march toward the front doors. His mind was a chaotic storm of suppressed emotion and calculated strategy. For seven years, he had believed his wife died from natural complications during childbirth, leaving him alone to raise Lila. To discover she had secretly delivered a twin boy, bribed a doctor, and sent the child away to protect him from the syndicate was a profound betrayal. Yet, beneath the anger, a fierce, primal instinct raged. That boy was his blood.
As Damian reached the massive glass entry doors, a convoy of heavily armored black SUVs screeched to a halt under the portico. The rain had begun to fall, casting a sleek, dramatic sheen over the vehicles.

Vance stepped out of the lead vehicle, holding the rear door open. "Miss Lila is secured in the penthouse, Boss. The address for the boy just hit the console. It's twenty miles north."
"Tell the drivers to push the engines to the limit," Damian ordered, stepping into the back of the SUV. He reached under the seat, pulling out a heavy tactical vest and strapping it over his elegant tuxedo. "If anyone gets in our way tonight, do not hesitate. We tear through them."
