Chapter 7

The convoy of armored SUVs tore through the rainy city streets like a pack of hunting wolves. The cinematic glow of the streetlights reflected off the tinted bulletproof glass as Damian sat in the back of the lead vehicle. He checked the magazine of his sidearm with practiced, rhythmic efficiency, the metallic clicks echoing softly in the luxurious cabin.
Vance sat in the passenger seat, monitoring the tactical feeds on a glowing tablet. "Traffic cameras caught two unmarked vans entering the target subdivision approximately fifteen minutes ago, Boss. They match the profile of the Sterling faction's clean-up crews."
"Fifteen minutes," Damian repeated, his rugged face hardened into stone. "That is a lifetime in this business. Tell the men to prepare for a breach the second we arrive. No negotiations, no warnings."
"Copy that," Vance replied.
Damian looked out the rain-streaked window, his jaw clenched tight. He pictured Lila's sweet, elegant face in her pale-pink dress, holding the antique music box. She had unknowingly held the key to her brother's existence for years. His late wife had engineered the perfect secret, hiding a prince among commoners so he would never have to hold a gun or order a man's death.
But Celeste's greed had destroyed that sanctuary.
"Boss, we are approaching the perimeter," the driver announced, navigating the heavy vehicle onto a quiet, tree-lined suburban street. The contrast between the violent Mafia convoy and the peaceful, manicured lawns was jarring.
"Kill the headlights," Damian commanded.
The four SUVs plunged into darkness, rolling silently down the wet asphalt like shadows. They stopped two houses down from a modest, two-story brick home. The front door of the target house was ajar, the wood splintered around the lock. There were no unmarked vans in the driveway. The street was dead silent.

Damian kicked his door open and stepped out into the rain. His midnight-black tuxedo was instantly soaked, but he didn't care. He raised his weapon, his intense gray eyes locked onto the broken door.
"Move in," Damian whispered. "Find my son."
