Chapter 8 - The wrath of the king

The warehouse descended into a masterclass of tactical domination. Calder’s bodyguards, dressed in dark coats, breached from the upper skylights and side entrances simultaneously. They moved like phantoms, deploying non-lethal flashbangs that blinded Victor’s mercenaries.
There was no graphic violence, no blood spattered on the concrete. Calder’s men used brutal, highly trained hand-to-hand combat to disarm and subdue the Vance enforcers within seconds. Men were pinned to the walls, zip-tied, and driven to the ground through sheer, overwhelming physical force.
Through the smoke and confusion, Calder walked forward at a steady, unhurried pace. He was a force of nature, entirely untouched by the chaos. A mercenary lunged at him from the shadows, raising a heavy steel pipe. Calder didn't even break his stride. He effortlessly caught the man’s arm, twisting it with devastating strength, and shoved him violently into a rusted steel pillar, knocking him completely unconscious.
Calder reached the center of the room. Victor was scrambling on his hands and knees, desperately trying to grab the titanium flash drive from the concrete floor.
Calder stepped on Victor’s hand, pinning it to the ground with his polished leather shoe.
Victor gasped in pain, looking up at the towering Mafia Boss with wide, terrified eyes.
Calder reached down, grabbed Victor by the collar of his expensive coat, and lifted the older man effortlessly to his feet. He slammed Victor against the metal chair, his intense, deeply masculine presence radiating absolute doom.
“You made two mistakes today, Victor,” Calder growled, his voice a low vibration that shook the air. “You assumed I negotiate with thieves. And you assumed Sarah Hayes was just an accountant.”
Calder released his grip, letting Victor collapse back onto the concrete. He turned his back on the broken boss and knelt beside Sarah. With a quick flick of his tactical blade, he cut the thick zip-ties binding her wrists.
Sarah fell forward, exhausted and shaking. Calder caught her gently, supporting her weight with his broad shoulder.
“Emma,” Sarah gasped, her beautiful, tear-filled eyes looking up at him in sheer panic. “Where is my daughter?”

“She is safe,” Calder promised softly, his rugged face softening for the first time. “She is at my estate. She has been waiting for you.”
Sarah wept with profound relief, burying her face against Calder’s black overcoat. Calder lifted her easily into his arms, carrying her out of the dark, freezing warehouse and into the pale winter sunlight, leaving Victor and his broken empire to the mercy of the impending authorities.
