Chapter 6 - The locked door

Days turned into a week, and a strange, quiet rhythm settled over the mansion. Ethan was demanding but fair, and Juliet found herself anticipating the moments she spent in his company. The dark tension between them had shifted into a charged, undeniable chemistry.
But the mystery of the necklace gnawed at Juliet's mind. One afternoon, while Ethan was in a physical therapy session, Juliet was dusting a hallway on the second floor—a wing she had been explicitly told to ignore.
At the end of the hall, a heavy oak door was left slightly ajar. Curiosity overwhelmed her fear. She pushed the door open, her flat shoes making no sound on the thick rugs.
The room was a massive archive. The walls were covered in corkboards pinned with twenty-year-old newspaper clippings, police reports, and photographs. Juliet gasped, recognizing the headlines. It was all about a massive corporate sabotage, a deadly car accident, and a missing security guard. Her father.
She stepped closer to a photograph pinned to the center of the board. It was a picture of her father, and clearly visible around his neck was the exact silver pendant Ethan now wore.
"I told you this wing was off-limits."

Juliet spun around, her heart nearly jumping out of her chest. Ethan was in the doorway, his wheelchair blocking her exit. The lighting in the room cast his face in harsh shadows, making him look incredibly dangerous.
"Why do you have pictures of my father?" Juliet demanded, her fear replaced by a sudden, fierce anger.
