Chapter 16 - THE MARCONI MEN

My own family needed work too.

It was easy to look at Warren and say:

Hales abuse women.

Then ignore the Marconi men who had spent generations using intimidation in other forms.

My uncle Enzo once punched a cousin during a business dispute twenty years earlier.

No charge.

My grandfather threw plates.

My father yelled until rooms emptied.

Our family had become lawful commercially faster than emotionally.

So I changed security protocols.

Bodyguards were not family enforcers.

No escorting adult relatives from meetings unless safety required it.

No standing behind someone during a vote for effect.

No “teaching respect.”

No removing phones.

No preventing exits.

Security protects.

It does not perform hierarchy.

Some old men complained.

Good.
