Chapter 6 - the hidden voice

Dominic made a subtle move toward the door, but the two bodyguards instantly crossed their arms, blocking his path entirely.

Vincent picked up the micro-SD card with steady fingers. He inserted it into the reader slot on his high-end laptop sitting on the marble desk. A single audio file appeared on the screen, dated the exact afternoon of his wife's tragic accident.

He hit play.

The room filled with the clear, high-quality recording of a woman's voice—Vincent's late wife.

“If you are listening to this, Vincent,” her recorded voice echoed softly through the quiet therapy room, “it means I didn't survive the drive. Dominic found out I discovered the offshore accounts he’s been draining from the family trust. He tampered with the brake lines on the SUV. Isabella was in the backseat when I caught him in the garage... she saw his face, Vincent. She saw what he did to the car.”

The audio cut out into static.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room. Vincent slowly raised his head from the laptop screen. His blue eyes were no longer just intense—they held a dark, lethal fire that made even the guards hold their breath.

He looked at Dominic, whose elegant, controlled facade had completely disintegrated. Sweat glistened on Dominic’s forehead, his sharp jaw trembling as he took a step back against the guarded door.

"She saw you," Vincent whispered, his voice dangerously soft. "That's why she stopped talking. Every time you came near her, every time you spoke to me in her presence... she was terrified you would finish what you started."
