Chapter 8 - the strike on saint mark's

At 1:00 AM, heavy rain lashed against the crumbling stone walls of Saint Mark’s Monastery, an abandoned nineteenth-century complex surrounded by overgrown iron fences.

Four black armored SUVs parked silently in the dense woods three hundred yards away. Twenty elite Rosselli tactical operatives in night-vision gear stepped out, moving like silent shadows through the rain.

Dante led the team himself, dressed in a black tactical vest over his dark shirt, holding a custom silenced rifle.

They breached the heavy oak side doors of the monastery without making a sound, neutralizing three Falcone guards stationed in the grand courtyard before they could even draw their weapons.

Dante descended the damp stone steps into the subterranean cellar beneath the chapel. The air was cold, smelling of old dust and wet stone.

At the end of a long stone corridor stood a heavy iron cell door guarded by two mercenary soldiers.

With swift, silent precision, Dante and Vincent eliminated the guards, taking the key ring from the leader's belt.

Dante unlocked the iron door, pushing it open with a low creak.

Inside the dimly lit stone cell, sitting on a simple wooden cot wrapped in a grey wool blanket, was an older woman. Though thin and worn by eight months of captivity, her dark brown hair and soft, resilient eyes were unmistakable.

It was Elena Rosselli.

"Dante...?" Elena whispered, her weak voice trembling as she stood up from the cot.

Dante dropped his weapon to the floor, stepping forward and wrapping his massive arms tightly around his long-lost sister. "I found you, Elena... I finally found you."

Elena buried her face into her brother's chest, weeping tears of overwhelming relief. "My baby... my Alina... is she safe, Dante?"

Dante pulled back, looking into her eyes with a proud, fierce smile. "She's safe at the estate, Elena. And she's wearing your silver dragon."
