Chapter 8

Dominic made the irreversible decision one week after the hidden nursery was found.

He petitioned the family court to appoint a neutral professional guardian for all decisions involving Maisie’s contact with Iris, Juliet’s records, and any maternal-family communication.

Not Lucinda.

Not Dominic.

Not his lawyers.

A neutral.

His attorney warned:

“You are surrendering control.”

Dominic answered:

“Control is how this happened.”

Second, he agreed that Maisie would spend two nights a week temporarily with a court-approved caregiver outside the mansion while the home environment was assessed.

Not because he did not love her.

Because the mansion was full of people whose loyalty was to him, not necessarily to her safety.

Third, he removed every staff member who had worked under Lucinda’s household authority from Maisie’s direct care until investigators cleared them.

Fourth, he turned over all security footage, household phone records, and legal correspondence from the week Juliet disappeared.

Even material that could expose unrelated criminal conduct.

His federal lawyer nearly begged him to slow down.

Dominic did not.

Fifth, he accepted misdemeanor diversion for striking Lucinda.

Anger-management sessions.

Community service.

No contact with Lucinda outside legal proceedings.

If completed, the charge could be dismissed.

He signed without theatrics.

Finally, he met with federal prosecutors through counsel about broader Valenti operations.

Juliet’s old petition described money laundering, intimidation, and household isolation.

Some claims were old.

Some current.

Dominic could not open the truth about his daughters and pretend the rest of his life stayed sealed.

His lawyer said:

“This may put you in prison.”

Dominic looked through the courthouse glass at Maisie coloring with her court advocate.

“Then I should have thought of that before building a life children needed lawyers to enter.”

That was the turn.

No private revenge.

May you like

No family cleanup.

No more pretending love excused power.
