Chapter 6 - The brother's ambition

Julian had always been the shadow to Vincent’s blinding light. While Vincent commanded fear and respect, Julian managed the ledgers. But recently, millions of dollars had been quietly moved through offshore accounts without Vincent’s approval. A silent coup had been brewing, and Julian needed Vincent out of the way to take the throne.

Marcus left the medical wing and walked toward the estate's grand library. Julian was sitting by the fireplace, sipping a glass of bourbon, his fair, rosy face presenting a mask of deep concern.

"How is he, Marcus?" Julian asked, standing up. "Who did this to my brother?"

Marcus kept his posture rigid, his face expressionless. "Dr. Lena stabilized him. It was a close call. The perimeter is secure, Julian. Whoever did this is trapped inside with us."

Julian sighed, adjusting his suit jacket. As the room fell quiet, Marcus heard it. A faint, rhythmic clicking sound coming from the inner pocket of Julian’s vest. A pocket watch. Adeline’s innocent observation was the only piece of evidence that could pierce Julian’s perfect alibi. Marcus knew he couldn't act yet. If he accused Julian without Vincent’s explicit order, the syndicate would tear itself apart in a civil war. He had to wait for the boss to wake up.
