The professional trustee immediately froze all Brightwell-related distributions from Elowen’s trust.
It did not freeze Elowen’s legitimate expenses.
School continued.
Therapy continued.
Medical care continued.
That distinction mattered.
Brightwell hired lawyers.
Graydon did too.
Both organizations initially argued that Seraphine had misrepresented Alaric’s consent to them.
The evidence supported part of that claim.
Graydon had repeatedly asked for legitimate clinical documentation.
Its admissions staff had not physically mistreated Elowen.
But Brightwell’s role was more complicated.
Internal emails showed some executives knew Seraphine was using a family member as a developmental case study.
They discussed conversion rates.
They discussed trust-funded services.
They failed to ask whether the child actually needed the escalating interventions being described.
The network suspended the executives involved.
Its investors commissioned their own review.
Seraphine’s consulting agreement was terminated.
Her performance compensation disappeared.
Elowen’s trust filed civil claims seeking repayment of improperly obtained consulting expenses.
The forged application and use of Alaric’s credentials were referred for legal investigation.
Seraphine blamed Alaric.
Then Brightwell.
Then her brother’s fund.
Then the stress of becoming a stepmother.
Her explanations changed.
The documents did not.
Alaric faced consequences too.
He had slapped Seraphine.
He did not hide it.
He gave the same account to investigators every time.
“She pushed my daughter. I lost control and hit her.”
His lawyer offered context.
Alaric offered responsibility.
A misdemeanor case was eventually resolved without incarceration, including counseling and community-service requirements.
Several associates considered that humiliating.
Alaric did not.
Elowen had seen him hit someone after someone used violence against her.
