Chapter 3 - The shadow of Caldwell

"Security!" Celeste’s voice pierced the silence, sharp and venomous.

Two burly security officers in dark suits immediately cut through the crowd, heading straight toward the VIP table.

Celeste pointed a trembling, diamond-adorned finger directly at Alexander’s chest. "Drag him out of here before I report him to whoever runs this place! He just destroyed my bidding credential and assaulted my property!"

The security guards stepped up, reaching for Alexander’s arms. Alexander didn't move an inch. He stood tall, his hands resting naturally at his sides, looking at the security team with a calm authority that made both men hesitate for a split second.

"Is there a problem here?"

A refined, authoritative voice broke through the tension.

Julian Sterling, the fifty-year-old Auction Director, hurried down the center aisle. Impeccably groomed in a tailor-made tuxedo, holding the official leather-bound auction catalog in his left hand, Julian moved with the practiced elegance of a man who managed the world's most powerful bank accounts.

"Julian! Thank God," Celeste snapped, adjusting her diamond necklace. "One of your catering staff or temporary hires just insulted me, ruined my table, and broke my paddle. Get him out of my sight immediately."

Julian didn't look at Celeste. His eyes landed squarely on Alexander.

The Auction Director stopped dead in his tracks. The color visibly drained from his face. His posture instantly dropped its stiff formality, shifting into profound, submissive reverence.

In front of two hundred of the richest people in America, Julian Sterling bowed deeply from the waist.

"Mr. Caldwell… welcome back," Julian said, his voice trembling slightly with genuine awe.

A collective gasp swept through the gallery.

Celeste’s hand froze near her collarbone. Her mouth parted, but no sound came out. The air in her lungs felt suddenly thin and freezing cold. Her face filled with absolute, overwhelming fear.
