Chapter 7 - the breach at midnight

Dante slammed his palms onto the mahogany table, jumping out of his chair in pure rage. "This is a setup! That girl is a common housemaid, and that baby is an illegitimate bastard! You're fabricating bloodline records to consolidate your power!"
Don Carmine reviewed the certified DNA report under his reading glasses. His weathered face hardened into stone.
"The DNA match is ninety-nine point nine percent absolute, Dante," Carmine declared coldly. "Grace Caruso is Julian Caruso's legitimate daughter... and the sole legal heiress to forty percent of the Caruso shipping enterprise."
Dante's face went sheet-white as his leverage completely shattered.
"Traitor!" Captain Marco shouted, drawing his sidearm.
Before the council guards could secure him, Dante reached into his coat pocket, pressing a small remote detonator!
BOOM!
A loud explosion rocked the outer security gatehouse, plunging the main mansion into pitch-black darkness as the primary electrical line was severed!
Shouting and automatic gunfire erupted from the grand foyer as twelve rogue mercenaries hired by Dante breached the front glass doors!
"Protect the heiress!" Dominic roared through the dark!
Dominic moved like an invincible whirlwind of destruction in the dim emergency lighting. He drew his silver revolver, clearing three incoming mercenaries on the stairs with swift, terrifying precision, shielding Hannah and Grace with his broad frame.

Hannah held baby Grace tightly against her chest, ducking behind the heavy oak dining table as bullets splintered the wood above them.
Dominic advanced down the corridor, his dark presence dominating the room, cutting down the remaining mercenaries in five minutes flat with lethal efficiency.
