Chapter 8 - the confrontation in the rain

Julian's face went sheet-white as his corporate empire collapsed around his feet.

"You can't do this to me!" Julian shrieked, backing toward the boardroom doors. "I built half of this company's logistics network! I deserve this seat!"

"You built nothing, Julian," Arthur said coldly, stepping toward him with heavy, deliberate strides. "You stole from a grieving father, and you starved three innocent children."

Before Julian could reach the exit, four federal agents wearing dark tactical coats burst through the double doors, weapons displayed clearly!

"Julian Whitmore!" the lead federal agent announced. "You are under arrest for grand corporate fraud, wire extortion, and international embezzlement!"

Julian glared at Caleb and Grace with bitter, desperate hatred as federal agents clicked heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists, dragging him out of the boardroom in front of the entire executive council forever.

Silence returned to the high-rise boardroom, broken only by the sound of rain against the glass windows.

Senior Chairman Carmine stood up, bowing his head respectfully toward Grace, Caleb, and Annie.

"Under article four of the founding charter," Carmine declared, "this board officially recognizes Grace, Caleb, and Annie Bennett as the sole legitimate heirs to the Whitmore family trust and sixty percent voting control of Whitmore Transportation."

The gathered board members stood up as one, raising their glasses in unanimous, roaring applause for the three children who had survived the shadows to claim their rightful legacy!

Annie smiled brightly, hugging Caleb's arm, while Grace looked up at Arthur with tears of pure happiness sparkling in her brown eyes.

Arthur reached out, wrapping his broad arms around all three of his grandchildren, holding them close against his chest as the rain washed over the city sky outside.
