Chapter 10 - major reveal

Gabriel grabbed Vincent’s wrist, twisting the heavy revolver upward as a deafening shot echoed off the concrete walls, shattering a overhead light fixture.
Gabriel delivered a devastating right hook straight into Vincent's jaw, sending the silver-haired consigliere crashing violently against the cold steel vault frame.
Vincent dropped to his hands and knees, spitting blood onto the concrete floor.
Gabriel stepped over him, picking up the fallen revolver and aiming it directly at the back of Vincent's head.
"It's over, Vincent," Gabriel said, his voice cold as ice.
Vincent let out a ragged, raspy laugh, wiping blood from his mouth as he looked up at Gabriel. "Shoot me then, Gabriel! Shoot me! But you still don't know why Julian took that fifteen million dollars!"
Gabriel’s finger paused on the trigger. "He took it to build a trust for his child."
"No!" Vincent barked, laughing bitterly. "He didn't take it for the baby! Julian took that fifteen million dollars six months ago to pay off the shadow syndicate in Rome!"
Gabriel’s brow furrowed slightly. "What shadow syndicate?"
"The International Commission!" Vincent revealed, his eyes burning with desperate malice. "Your father didn't build the Caruso empire alone thirty years ago, Gabriel! He took a forty-million-dollar loan from the Council of Rome! Julian found the original charter in the family archives six months ago!"
Gabriel stood motionless, the weight of the revelation crashing over him.
"Julian realized that under the Council's charter, if you die without a legitimate married heir," Vincent sneered, "the entire sixty-million-dollar Manhattan port deal automatically reverts to Rome! That's why Julian hid Hannah and Grace! He was trying to buy back the charter before Rome realized Grace existed!"
This was the major reveal of Season 1: the medium-term mystery of the $60M business deal from Chapter 1 and the true reason behind Julian's secret maneuvers was exposed. Julian hadn't just been running from Vincent—he had been fighting a quiet, desperate war against an ancient European syndicate to protect the Caruso family legacy.
Vincent reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a crumpled, yellowed document stamped with a black wax seal from Rome. He threw it onto the concrete floor at Gabriel's feet.
"Read it yourself, Don Gabriel," Vincent panted. "Your father sold your family's soul thirty years ago."
Before Gabriel could pick up the paper, footsteps echoed down the staircase.
Marco, bruised from the fall into the pit, hauled himself out and raised his hands in complete surrender, dropping his weapon. "Don Gabriel... please... I didn't know about Rome... Vincent lied to me about the deal!"
Gabriel didn't look at Marco. He pulled his satellite comms unit up to his mouth.
"Security detail," Gabriel commanded into the mic. "Take Marco and Vincent into federal custody. Turn over the Montreal wire transfers to the District Attorney's office."
The Season 1 internal traitor was officially crushed. The immediate threat to Hannah and Grace from inside the mansion was destroyed.
Gabriel walked over to the vault door, pressed his thumb against the scanner, and watched the heavy steel door swing open.

Hannah ran out, throwing her arms around Gabriel’s neck, weeping with joy as Grace let out a happy babble from her cradle.
Gabriel held them both close, his broad chest rising and falling as peace finally settled over the subterranean vault.
