Chapter 9 - Judgment at Gold Coast

Chaos exploded in the grand dining hall.

Anthony grabbed the silver pistol from his daughter's hand, pointing it wildly at Vincent’s chest. "Nobody move! Stand back or I blow his heart out!"

The lieutenants drew their weapons instantly, creating a tense, Mexican standoff in the center of the room.

Sophia backed up against her father, her polished host demeanor completely replaced by a desperate, venomous glare directed at Vincent. "You ruined my life tonight at the restaurant, Moretti! You took my job, my reputation—"

"Your father ruined your life the moment he dragged you into his treason," Vincent said softly, without a single trace of fear in his piercing blue eyes.

Vincent didn't flinch. He didn't step back. Instead, he took one slow step forward, pressing his broad chest directly against the barrel of Anthony’s silver gun.

"Shoot me, Anthony," Vincent commanded, his deep voice carrying a terrifying resonance that shook the room. "Shoot me in front of my lieutenants. See if you make it three feet out of this house."

Anthony’s hand trembled violently. His finger hovered over the trigger, but looking into Vincent's ice-blue eyes, he realized he was looking into the eyes of a true Don—a man who did not fear death, only dishonor.

From the arched balcony above the dining hall, Claire stepped forward to the stone railing, holding Mia’s hand tightly.

"Anthony!" Claire called out, her voice clear and strong, ringing across the high ceiling. "Look at her!"

Anthony instinctively glanced up toward the balcony.

Seven-year-old Mia stood beside her mother, her cream bow neatly tied in her hair, her large brown eyes looking down at the silver-haired traitor without a single tear.

"That is Gabriel Moretti’s daughter," Claire declared, her voice filled with unbroken maternal pride. "She survived seven years of your cruelty, your evictions, and your poverty. And tonight, she sits in her father's house while you stand exposed as a coward."

Anthony looked up at the child, the realization of his complete, utter defeat crashing down on him. His hand shook so violently that the silver pistol slipped from his fingers, clattering loudly onto the marble floor.

Sal and two guards lunged forward instantly, slamming Anthony and Sophia to the ground, securing them in heavy steel cuffs.

Anthony looked up from the floor, his silver hair disheveled, tears of bitter humiliation streaming down his face. "Vincent... please... spare my daughter! She only did what I told her to do!"

Vincent stood over him, adjusting his black silk cuffs, his dark red pocket square neatly in place.

"Your daughter will face federal conspiracy charges," Vincent said coldly. "As for you, Anthony... you will spend the rest of your natural life in a maximum-security prison cell, thinking about the family you betrayed."

Marco and the security team dragged Anthony and Sophia out of the dining hall, their desperate pleas fading down the long, marble corridors until the heavy double doors slammed shut.
