Chapter 9

At nine-thirty PM, three black armored SUVs glided silently through the dense, foggy gates of an exclusive compound in Lake Forest.
The heavy estate belonged to Captain Dominic Vitucci. Illuminated by floodlights, the mansion appeared peaceful, but inside, Vitucci and six armed bodyguards were frantically packing duffel bags with cash and passports, preparing to flee the country.
The front gates of the compound did not open.
The lead black SUV rammed through the iron gates with thunderous, crushing force, shattering the lock and spraying metal across the brick driveway.
Before Vitucci’s guards could draw their weapons, Lorenzo Duca’s elite vanguard poured out of the vehicles, moving with disciplined, military-grade speed. Suppressed gunshots cracked through the foggy night air, eliminating Vitucci’s outer perimeter guards in less than forty seconds.
Lorenzo stepped out of the rear SUV, wearing his black luxury suit, his polished black shoes striking the wet brick driveway. His tall, broad-shouldered frame radiated a terrifying, absolute aura of judgment as he walked into the grand foyer of Vitucci’s mansion.
Inside the mahogany library, Dominic Vitucci—a grey-haired, heavy-set man in an expensive silk robe—scrambled backward toward his desk, his face turning a sickly, deathly pale as the heavy doors were kicked off their hinges.
Lorenzo walked into the room, flanked by Rocco and four heavily armed operatives. His broad frame dominated the space, his piercing blue eyes locked entirely onto the traitor.
"Lorenzo!" Vitucci gasped, his voice trembling hysterically as he reached for a silver revolver resting on his desk. "What... what is this?! We are brothers in business!"
Before Vitucci’s fingers could touch the firearm, Lorenzo closed the distance in three strides. He grabbed Vitucci by his lapels, lifting the heavy man off his feet, and slammed him onto the hardwood floor with shattering force.
Vance let out a strangled scream of pain as Lorenzo set his heavy, polished black leather shoe directly onto the traitor's chest, pinning him to the floor.
Lorenzo drawn his sidearm, pointing the cold black barrel directly between Vitucci’s terrified eyes.
"Four years ago, Vitucci," Lorenzo said, his deep voice dropping into an icy, absolute register that froze the air in the room. "You gave Julian’s coordinates to a hit squad on the river."
Vitucci’s eyes widened in pure, unadulterated horror. "How... how do you..."
"You left my brother to die in a freezing river so you could steal his port contracts," Lorenzo growled, his jaw locking like iron. "And you tried to erase his bloodline."
"Lorenzo, please!" Vitucci wept hysterically, blood dripping from his lip. "It was just business! I'll give you the ports! I'll give you everything!"

"This isn't business, Vitucci," Lorenzo whispered coldly, his thumb flicking the safety off his weapon. "This is family."
A single, suppressed gunshot echoed through the silent mansion, closing the dark chapter of treason forever.
