Chapter 10 - The Sovereign's Sanctuary

By midnight, the storm of violence that had threatened the Moretti empire was entirely cleared.

Federal authorities and private security teams had removed the remnants of the Falcone syndicate, permanently sealing the old drainage tunnels and establishing a triple-tier security perimeter around the estate. The city was finally quiet, resting under the absolute, undisputed rule of Adrian Moretti.

In the sunlit living room, now illuminated by the soft golden glow of warm lamps and a crackling fireplace, peace had returned.

The tall arched windows had been replaced with reinforced crystal glass, the white floral arrangements refreshed, and the plush white velvet sofa restored to its pristine elegance.

Adrian sat at the center of the sofa. He had removed his fedora and dark overcoat, wearing his comfortable black silk shirt with his sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscular forearms and luxury watch.

Sitting right beside him on the white velvet cushions was five-year-old Sophia. She wore a clean pink dress, her brown hair neatly brushed with a fresh pink bow, contentedly eating a small slice of strawberry cake from a silver plate.

Sitting on the rug directly at their feet, resting his heavy head across Adrian’s polished shoes, was Titan. The massive guard dog let out a deep, relaxed sigh, his tail giving a soft thump against the floor whenever Sophia dropped a tiny crumb.

Elena sat in a plush armchair across from them, wearing an elegant dark blue dress provided by the estate's stylist. Her fair rosy skin was glowing, her dark hair falling softly over her shoulders as she sipped warm tea, watching her daughter with a peaceful, grateful smile.

Dante walked into the living room, holding a leather-bound folder. He bowed his head respectfully to Adrian.

"Boss," Dante reported quietly. "The legal documents have been finalized. Elena and Sophia are officially registered as co-trustees of the Moretti family foundation. The Falcone holdings have been absorbed into our logistics network."

Adrian nodded smoothly. "Thank you, Dante. Have the perimeter teams double their shifts. Tomorrow, we begin construction on the new children's wing at the city hospital in Leo's name."

"Understood, Boss," Dante smiled softly, backing out of the room and closing the heavy double doors behind him.

Sophia set her silver plate down on the coffee table, picked up her fluffy brown teddy bear, and snuggled close against Adrian’s broad side, resting her small head against his arm.

"Uncle Adrian?" she asked softly in her sweet, innocent voice.

Adrian looked down at his niece, his rugged, bearded face softening with pure, unadulterated affection. "Yes, little one?"

"Are we going to stay here forever?"

Adrian reached out, gently wrapping his broad arm around her shoulders, pulling her close while resting his other hand on Titan's broad head. He looked at Elena, who offered him a warm, beautiful smile.

"Yes, Sophia," Adrian whispered softly, his deep voice filled with undeniable, eternal protection. "This is your home now. And nobody will ever threaten us again."

Suddenly, a soft chime sounded from the satellite phone sitting on the coffee table.

Adrian glanced down at the glowing screen. A new encrypted message flashed across the display from an unknown international server based in London:

THE MORETTI BLOODLINE HAS SURVIVED. THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL SENDS ITS CONGRATULATIONS. PREPARE FOR THE SUMMIT IN ROME.

Adrian’s dark eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous, confident smirk touching his lips as he silently turned the phone off, leaning back into his white sofa, surrounded by his family, ready for whatever shadows the future might bring.
