Chapter 1 - The Voice in the Laundry Room

The Moretti estate sat sprawling on fifty acres of private, gated land just outside New York City. Built from gray limestone and reinforced steel, the mansion was a fortress of silent, overwhelming power. Inside, every hallway was polished to perfection, quiet enough to hear a pin drop. To the outside world, Luca Moretti was an untouchable titan—a feared Mafia boss and logistics billionaire whose word was law across the Eastern Seaboard. At forty-two, tall, broad-shouldered, and sharply handsome in his navy-blue three-piece suit, he radiated an air of absolute control.

On a rainy Tuesday afternoon, Luca returned to his estate three hours earlier than scheduled. His executive meeting in Manhattan had finished ahead of time, and he wanted to review financial manifests in his private study without his usual entourage.

Stepping through the heavy double oak doors of the side entrance, he unbuttoned his suit jacket and walked silently along the polished marble hallway of the service wing.

As he passed the lower laundry facility, a faint, delicate sound caught his attention.

Luca stopped in his tracks.

It wasn't the hum of the industrial washing machines or the heavy footsteps of his security team. It was a tiny, rhythmic splashing of water, accompanied by a small, breathless whisper.

Curious, Luca stepped toward the partially open door of the main laundry room.
