Chapter 9 - The Gathering Storm

Don Falcone realized he was cornered. With his reputation ruined and the Council turning against him, he reached into his coat, pulling a concealed sidearm aimed directly at Victor’s children!
"If I lose the eastern territory, nobody gets it!" Falcone screamed.
CRACK!
Before Falcone could pull the trigger, a single, precise shot echoed through the penthouse ballroom.
Victor had drawn his heavy sidearm with blinding speed. The round struck Falcone’s shoulder, knocking the weapon from his hand and sending him crashing onto the marble floor.
Marcus and the Bellandi enforcers moved in instantly, disarming Falcone's guards and pinning the old crime lord to the floor.
The Senior Council Dean stood up, his face grim and authoritative. "Don Falcone and Celeste Bellandi are stripped of all syndicate titles, territories, and assets. They will be handed over to federal authorities immediately to face trial for kidnapping, corporate fraud, and conspiracy."
The crowd erupted into quiet, unanimous approval as federal marshals, who had been waiting outside the ballroom, stepped inside and slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto Celeste and Falcone, dragging them out of the hotel.
Victor stood in the center of the hall, his broad arms wrapping around Ellie and Leo, pulling his twin children close against his broad chest.
The remaining bosses of the Council of Nine stood up from their table, bowing their heads in deep, absolute deference to Victor Bellandi and his legitimate heirs.

"The Bellandi empire is secure," the Senior Dean declared.
Victor looked down at his children, his dark eyes shining with pure, unadulterated warmth and pride. "It's over, my sweet ones. We're going home."
