Chapter 10

Seraphina did not reveal Enzo’s secret because she cared why Victor’s father never came home.
That was the major twist.
She used the secret as a weapon to separate Victor from Beatrice before Beatrice could stop the asset transfer.
The first clue was her line during the toast:
“Your generation ends tonight.”
She wanted Beatrice’s authority destroyed publicly.
The second clue was the private investigator’s note:
Not dead. Protected. Aunt covered. Use only if V resists.
The third clue was the prewritten petition claiming Beatrice was cognitively and emotionally unfit.
The fourth clue was the Cole Meridian transaction Beatrice had blocked.
The fifth clue was Seraphina’s own note:
V must break with B publicly. Father truth is the blade.
Seraphina’s plan required Victor to behave like the man everyone feared.
If he exploded at Beatrice, Seraphina could say the aunt was unsafe and unstable.
If he struck Seraphina again, she could say the groom was violent and needed managed separation from trust affairs.
If the wedding night dissolved into chaos, the court might freeze Beatrice’s authority and allow emergency financial management.
And if Victor learned his father had cooperated with federal agents, Seraphina expected him to reject every document connected to Enzo out of shame.
That was the trap.
The secret was real.
Enzo had cooperated.
Beatrice had lied.
But the reason mattered.
Enzo did not disappear because he hated Victor.
He disappeared because he refused to let the Bellacosta family turn his twelve-year-old son into proof of loyalty.
Beatrice kept the lie because telling the truth inside that family could have gotten Victor killed.
Then, over decades, protection curdled into control.
Seraphina counted on that pain being too large for Victor to examine.
She thought the truth would make him destroy the only witness who could stop her.
For a moment, she almost won.
Victor slapped her.
The cameras saw it.
The room gasped.
Then he stopped doing what she needed.
He called police.
He admitted his own conduct.
He let Beatrice speak.
He opened the trust.

The blade Seraphina chose cut the family open.
But it did not cut where she aimed.
