Chapter 6 - the captive's diary

Lorenzo marched down the grand marble staircase into the main drawing room, where Bianca sat on a velvet sofa, sipping a glass of red wine as though nothing had happened.
When she saw Lorenzo holding a loaded sidearm, her hand shook slightly, but she maintained her cold, arrogant smirk. "Did Evelyn enjoy her tea, dear brother?"
Lorenzo walked straight up to her, reaching down and snatching the crystal wine glass from her hand, smashing it against the marble floor.
"Cyanide, Bianca?" Lorenzo asked, his voice dead silent. "You tried to poison her in my own house?"
Bianca stood up, her champagne gown rustling as she glared at him with pure hatred. "She is a threat to everything I built! If she speaks to the syndicate elders, they will execute me! I had to protect myself!"
"You didn't protect yourself," Lorenzo said softly, reaching into his suit pocket and pulling out the silver micro-flash drive. "Dr. Hayes decrypted the files ten minutes ago. It wasn't just shipping routes you sold to Julian Vance... you sold the security codes to our private weapons vault."
Bianca froze, all color draining from her face. "No... that's impossible. She couldn't have opened that file..."
"Evelyn is a certified forensic accountant, Bianca," Lorenzo reminded her, his dark eyes burning. "She knew exactly what to look for when she was trapped down there. And every single code you gave Vance is recorded on this drive."
At that exact moment, the grand front doors of the estate were blown off their hinges with a thunderous blast, shaking the entire villa to its foundation.

Glass shattered across the foyer as eight heavily armed mercenaries in tactical gear poured into the grand hall, rifles raised. Walking through the smoke behind them was Julian Vance—a cold, ruthless man in a grey designer suit, holding a silenced pistol.
"Good evening, Lorenzo," Julian smiled wickedly, stepping over the ruined front doors. "I believe you have something that belongs to me."
