Chapter 6 - the standoff in the vault

Dante didn't flinch. He casually stepped in front of Giulia and Mia, his towering broad frame completely blocking them from view as his four security enforcers drew their sidearms, locking the room in an instant, breathless standoff.
"You're out of your depth, Vance," Dante said, his deep voice dropping into an icy, terrifying calm. "The contents of this box have already been digitally mirrored to my head of security."
Vance sneered, raising his pistol. "Your head of security can't save you inside a steel vault, Moretti. Your sister Valentina sold us Chiara's route three years ago, and she sold us your location today."
Giulia’s heart hammered against her ribs as she clutched Mia tightly against her side.
Suddenly, four-year-old Mia peeked out from behind Dante's suit trousers, holding her cloth doll. "That mean man has a shiny watch like Aunt Valentina!"
Vance glanced down at the child for a fraction of a second—and that single distraction was all Dante needed.
Dante moved like an unstoppable dark storm! He closed the ten-foot gap in a single stride, grabbing Vance's wrist with crushing broad strength, twisting the pistol out of his grip, and slamming the mobster violently against the marble wall!
CRASH!
Dante's four enforcers opened fire simultaneously, disarming Vance's three mercenaries with precise, non-lethal tactical strikes!
Within fifteen seconds, the vault corridor was cleared, and Vance was pinned to the floorboards under Dante's heavy leather boot!
Dante leaned down, his dark eyes burning into Vance's face like hot iron. "Who gave you the poison three years ago, Vance?"
Vance choked, blood dripping from his lip. "It was... it was Arthur Hale! Valentina's private financial advisor! He forged the medical orders!"
Sirens wailed outside on Fifth Avenue as federal agents burst down the marble stairs, taking Vance and his mercenaries into custody.

Dante stood up, picking up the box containing Chiara's final legacy. He turned to Giulia, reaching out his broad hand to pull her and Mia close to his side.
"We go home now," Dante said softly. "It's time to clean my house."
