Chapter 8 - the restoration of the estate

Two weeks later, the heavy shadow that had hung over the Moretti estate for three long years was finally lifted.
Valentina Moretti and Arthur Hale were formally indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of grand conspiracy, corporate fraud, and first-degree murder. The rival syndicate Sterling Logistics was completely dismantled by federal authorities, and peace returned to Lake Shore Drive.
In the grand conservatory, the warm afternoon sun poured through the high glass windows, illuminating the lush green plants and polished hardwood floors.
Giulia Bennett stood near the window, wearing a simple, elegant cream silk dress—no longer wearing her maid uniform. Her soft brown hair flowed loose over her shoulders, her fair skin glowing in the sunlight.
Four-year-old Mia was running happily across the conservatory floor, playing with a small golden retriever puppy that Dante had bought for her birthday.
Dante walked into the room, wearing an open-collar white dress shirt and dark trousers, looking relaxed and genuinely content for the first time in his life.
He walked up behind Giulia, wrapping his broad arms around her waist, pulling her gently against his chest.
"What are you thinking about, Giulia?" Dante asked softly, his deep voice thick with unshakeable warmth.
Giulia rested her head back against his chest, taking a deep, peaceful breath. "I was thinking about how a small cassette tape hidden under a piano changed our whole world."
"Mia brought the truth into the light," Dante murmured, leaning down to place a sweet, soft kiss on her cheek. "And you brought the light back into this house."

Mia ran over, throwing her small arms around Dante's leg, giggling merrily. "Mr. Dante is my favorite bear!"
Dante laughed—a rich, warm sound—and lifted the little girl into his arms, holding both Giulia and Mia close against his chest as the warm afternoon sun bathed them in light.
