Chapter 6 - The Metallic Emblem

Elena carefully used the tip of the forceps to extract the microscopic object from the center of the thread.
It was a minute, flexible metallic micro-tag, no larger than a grain of rice, designed to survive industrial processing and verify the origin of high-end manufacturing materials.
Holding the basin firmly in her gloved hands, Elena turned it toward Gabriel so he could look down into the bright stainless-steel dish.
"It’s an origin marker," Elena said quietly. "It isn't a factory mistake. This tag was deliberately woven into the core."
Gabriel leaned forward, his dark eyes narrowing as he inspected the tiny metallic tag resting in the residue. Stamped into the polished surface was a distinct, microscopic emblem—a stylized snake entwined around a scalpel.
It was the private, custom crest of Dr. Harrison Cole’s off-grid medical research facility.
The silence that followed was suffocating.
Dr. Cole looked down at the basin, his eyes wide with absolute horror. The color drained from his face until he was as pale as a bedsheet. His knees visibly buckled, and he had to lean against the wall to keep from collapsing.
Gabriel slowly raised his head. The fever was gone from his eyes, replaced by a cold, calculating fury that sent a chill through the entire room. He did not shout. He did not reach for a weapon. He simply sat on the edge of the bed, powerful, unyielding, and completely in control.
Gabriel locked his dark gaze onto the trembling surgeon.

"Nobody leaves this house," Gabriel said quietly.
Before Dr. Cole could utter another word, Carmine reached over and slammed his heavy palm against the wall panel. A sharp electronic chime echoed through the estate, and heavy steel security shutters slid down over every window and doorway, sealing the private medical suite into absolute darkness.
