Chapter 10

The golden afternoon sun cast a warm glow across the sprawling back lawn of the Caldwell estate. The autumn breeze carried the sweet scent of pine and crisp leaves as birds chirped happily in the towering oak trees.

Sitting on a large, soft picnic blanket spread over the green grass were Nico and Noah. Both one-year-old boys wore matching navy-blue overalls over soft yellow shirts, their golden-blonde hair catching the sunlight as they played happily with wooden toy cars. They squealed with joy, pushing the toys back and forth, their round rosy cheeks bright with laughter.

Sitting beside them on the blanket was Lena. Her golden-blonde hair shimmered in the sun, her pale-yellow dress spread around her as she laughed, helping Noah stack small wooden blocks into a tower.

A few paces away, Ethan stood watching them, holding two glasses of fresh lemonade. He wore a crisp white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up his forearms, exposing his black ink, and dark trousers. Standing beside him was Marco, dressed in his usual black suit, holding a tablet.

"The New York syndicate has completely withdrawn from the southern territory, boss," Marco reported softly, a rare smile touching his rugged face. "Margaret's trial was finalized this morning. She's serving a life sentence in a federal maximum-security facility. The empire is completely secure."

Ethan took a sip of his drink, his piercing eyes never leaving Lena and his sons. "Good. Tell the captains I'm taking the rest of the month off."

Marco chuckled. "Understood, Mr. Caldwell."

Marco bowed respectfully and walked back toward the mansion, leaving Ethan alone with his family.

Ethan walked across the lawn, setting the glasses down on a nearby wooden table, and sat down on the blanket beside Lena.

The moment he sat, both Nico and Noah abandoned their wooden blocks and scrambled over to him. Nico climbed onto Ethan's lap, grabbing his broad thumb with his tiny hand, while Noah rested his golden head against Ethan's muscular arm, letting out a contented sigh.

"Dada!" Nico giggled, showing his tiny baby teeth.

Ethan laughed—a rich, deep, genuine sound that echoed across the quiet garden. He wrapped his broad arms around both boys, pulling them close, before reaching out his hand to pull Lena gently into his side.

Lena leaned her head against Ethan's broad shoulder, her hand resting over his tattooed forearm. They sat together in the warm autumn sunlight, watching their twin sons play safely on the grass before them.

The dark shadows of the past—the betrayals, the fear, and the cold isolation—had been completely swept away. The Black King had protected his kingdom, not through blood and violence alone, but by finding the courage to open his heart to the light.

Nico looked up from his toy, pointing his chubby finger at Lena, then at Ethan, and let out a bright, cheerful laugh.

"Mama! Dada!" the little boy cheered happily.

Ethan looked down at Lena, his piercing eyes soft with infinite love, and leaned down to press a tender kiss against her lips. As their family embraced under the golden sky, the Caldwell estate was no longer just a fortress of power—it had finally become a home.
