Chapter 10 - The threshold of tomorrow

Six months later, the Caruso estate was unrecognizable. The dark, intimidating fortress had transformed into a warm, vibrant home.
In the grand gardens, the sun shone brightly over the blooming rose bushes. Hannah sat on a plush blanket on the grass, wearing a beautiful white summer dress. She looked radiant, a peaceful smile on her beautiful, rosy face as she watched Grace carefully learning to walk on the soft grass.
Dominic walked out of the manor, discarding his suit jacket and rolling up the sleeves of his white dress shirt. He carried a silver tray with fresh lemonade, setting it down on a patio table before walking over to join them on the grass.
Grace giggled happily when she saw him, abandoning her wobbly steps to crawl as fast as she could into Dominic’s waiting arms. Dominic caught her, lifting her high into the air as the baby squealed with delight. The intimidating Mafia Boss laughed—a rich, deep sound that melted Hannah’s heart every time she heard it.
Dominic sat down next to Hannah, pulling her close so she could rest her head on his broad shoulder. Grace sat happily in his lap, playing with his luxury wristwatch.
“The council meeting went well today,” Dominic murmured, kissing the top of Hannah’s head. “The transition to legitimate enterprises is almost complete. Julian’s dream is finally becoming a reality.”
“He would be so proud of you, Dominic,” Hannah said softly, her hand resting on his chest, feeling the strong, steady beat of his heart.
“I did it for him,” Dominic replied, looking down at his beautiful wife and his brother’s child. “But I built the future for you.”

As they sat together in the warm sunlight, the shadows of the mafia world felt a million miles away. They knew there would always be challenges. The underworld was vast, and enemies would always try to test the strength of the Caruso family. But as Dominic tightened his arm around Hannah, wrapping his family in an unbreakable shield of love and power, they both knew one thing for certain.
Whatever storms came to their threshold, they would face them together. And no one would ever break the bonds of the family they had forged in the dark.
