Chapter 10 - the threshold of sixteen

Three months later, the sun shone down warmly over the Vale Estate, illuminating the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The estate was filled with brilliant white flowers and gold banners for the grand celebration of Dominic and Clare’s wedding. The finest business leaders, political figures, and loyal syndicate heads from across the country filled the manicured gardens, cheering as Dominic and Clare exchanged vows beneath a marble archway overlooking the sea.

Dominic looked magnificent in his tailored tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his eyes burning with endless love as he held Clare in his arms. Clare looked breathtaking in a cascading white silk gown, her brown hair adorned with delicate diamond pins.

Beside them, four-year-old Ellie wore a miniature white dress, holding a special gold-plated wrench toy the estate's master mechanics had custom-built for her.

Later that evening, after the guests had departed and the stars filled the night sky, Dominic, Clare, and Ellie walked down the grand subterranean hallway beneath the estate toward the vault wing.

They stopped before a massive, reinforced steel vault door marked with sixteen gold dials.

"This is the master vault my father sealed thirty years ago," Dominic explained, looking down at Clare and Ellie. "It requires sixteen specific numeric combinations... combinations that were lost when my mother's sister vanished."

Clare looked at the silver locket she now wore around her neck. She pressed the spring latch, revealing a tiny set of engraved numbers hidden beneath the photographs: 16-04-88-12...

"The numbers are on the locket," Clare realized with a soft gasp.

Dominic took the locket, carefully dialing the sixteen numbers into the heavy vault door's gold mechanisms.

CLICK! CLANG!

With a heavy, pneumatic hiss, the multi-ton steel vault door slowly swung open, revealing a vast, marble-lined room filled with historical Vale treasures, ancient artwork, and endless financial ledgers.

In the center of the vault stood a pedestal holding an ancient iron box stamped with a double-headed eagle crest.

Dominic walked forward, opening the iron box. Inside lay an official decree written in golden ink, bearing the seal of an ancient European syndicate network that spanned across five continents.

Dominic read the top line of the decree, his dark eyes widening in profound shock.

"What is it, Dominic?" Clare asked, walking up beside him.

Dominic turned to look at little Ellie, who was standing near the doorway, happily adjusting a small brass buckle on her shoe.

"This estate... and everything I built in this city... is only one sixteenth of our family's true legacy," Dominic whispered, his voice thick with awe. "The remaining fifteen territories across Europe... belong entirely to Ellie."

May you like

Clare gasped, looking at her four-year-old daughter in utter disbelief.

Dominic smiled warmly, walking over to lift little Ellie into his broad, strong arms, holding her close against his chest as they looked down at the ancient European decree together... leaving the vast, untamed future of their global empire waiting just beyond the horizon...
