Chapter 9 - The Fall of the Traitor

Dozens of federal agents clad in tactical vests flooded the warehouse, weapons raised, securing the perimeter in seconds.

Standing at the front of the federal team was Agent Sarah Miller—the lead investigator for the Department of Justice who had been auditing the Moretti syndicate for months.

"Drop your weapons! Federal agents!" Miller shouted over a megaphone.

Adrian slowly released his grip on Caleb’s collar. Caleb collapsed onto the wet wooden planks of the pier, coughing and gasping for air.

Marcus stepped forward, handing Agent Miller the scorched USB drive and the leather folder containing the complete paper trail of Caleb's treason, the digitalis purchase receipts, and the illegal transfer logs.

"Everything you need to put Caleb Blackwell and the Moretti leadership away for life is on that drive, Agent Miller," Adrian said calmly, stepping back and wiping his hands.

Agent Miller inspected the digital files on her tablet, her eyebrows raising in shock. "This is enough to dismantle the entire Moretti network... and charge Caleb Blackwell with first-degree murder."

Two federal marshals stepped forward, hauling Caleb to his feet and pulling his arms behind his back, clamping heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists.

Caleb looked back at Adrian, his face pale, his voice trembling with bitter desperation. "Adrian! You can't do this to me! I'm a Blackwell!"

"No," Adrian said coldly, turning his back on his brother. "You're a murderer. And as of tonight, you are no longer a part of this family."

As the federal agents dragged Caleb and Vance away into custody, Harrison Cole stepped out from behind a line of federal vehicles, accompanied by two agents. He had turned himself in to federal prosecutors twenty minutes earlier, offering full testimony in exchange for witness protection.

Harrison walked up to Adrian, his head lowered in shame. "I'm sorry, Mr. Blackwell. I was a coward. I let him force me into doing terrible things."

"You made your choice, Harrison," Adrian said quietly. "Now you will answer to the court."

By the time the sun began to rise over the New York skyline, the storm had cleared completely. Golden sunlight reflected off the calm waters of the Hudson River, washing away the darkness of the long night.

Adrian stood on the edge of the pier, looking out over the city as the morning light touched the horizon. The five-year nightmare of his father's unsolved death was finally over. The traitors had been brought to justice, and his family's honor had been restored.

Marcus walked up beside him, holding a steaming paper cup of black coffee. "What happens now, Boss?"

Adrian accepted the coffee, taking a slow sip as a rare, genuine smile touched his lips.

"Now," Adrian declared, "we go home and rebuild."
