Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Execution

At precisely 8:00 AM, the glass-walled boardroom on the fortieth floor was filled with tension. Twelve board members sat around the massive polished conference table. At the far end sat Julian Langford, looking sharp and victorious in a pinstripe suit, with Victoria sitting beside him, wearing an icy white designer dress to emphasize her role as the victim.
When Ethan walked into the room, wearing the same simple dark suit from the night before, a heavy hush fell over the table.
Board Member Vance, a senior director with thinning hair, cleared his throat and stood up. "Ethan, given the appalling viral footage from last night and the massive PR damage to the Caldwell brand, this board is moving to temporarily suspend your voting power pending a full investigation."
Julian Langford leaned forward, a smug smile on his face. "It's about accountability, Mr. Caldwell. You can't assault high-society donors and expect your board to shield you."
Ethan did not take his seat at the head of the table. He stood casually near the projector screen, his hands resting in his pockets.

"You're right, Julian," Ethan said softly. "Accountability is extremely important."
Ethan nodded toward Sterling, who pressed a button on his remote. The large screens on the boardroom wall flickered to life. Instead of the viral video, the screens displayed detailed bank statements, wire transfers, and internal emails dating back five years.
