Chapter 13 - the siege of the docks

The night sky over the Brooklyn docks burned bright orange as heavy flames engulfed two massive shipping warehouses near Pier 14.
Dominic stepped out of his black armored SUV into the pouring rain, wearing a tactical vest over his black tuxedo shirt, holding a heavy assault rifle. Leo stepped out beside him, armed with his silver pistol, his expression filled with newfound purpose and blood loyalty.
"Mateo! Secure the western gate!" Dominic commanded over the radio as automatic gunfire echoed across the shipping containers.
"We're pinned down at Warehouse B, Don Dominic!" Mateo's voice crackled through the speaker. "Moretti brought fifty men! They're trying to destroy the master shipping ledgers before the Commission arrives!"
Dominic didn't hesitate. "Move in."
Dominic and Leo moved in tight tactical formation through the maze of towering steel shipping containers, clearing Moretti’s mercenaries with disciplined, lethal force. Dominic fired with deadly precision, dropping four armed attackers near the loading crane.
Beside him, Leo covered his flank, eliminating two shooters who attempted to ambush them from behind a forklift.
"Nice shot, brother," Dominic said without turning his head.
"Always covered your back, Dominic," Leo replied, reloading his magazine with a sharp click.
They pushed through the heavy steel doors of Warehouse B.
Inside, standing near a burning pile of paper documents, was Don Victor Moretti, surrounded by his six remaining elite bodyguards.
Moretti turned around, his face blackened with soot, his eyes wild with desperate rage as he raised his silver revolver.
"Bellacorte!" Moretti screamed over the roaring flames. "You won't leave this pier alive!"
Dominic stepped into the clear, his weapon raised, his broad frame completely blocking the exit. "It's over, Moretti. Your capos surrendered fifteen minutes ago."
Moretti spat blood onto the concrete floor. "You think you won? You think taking back these docks saves you from your father?"
"My father is a ghost," Dominic said coldly, taking three slow steps forward. "And I rule New York."
Moretti raised his gun to fire, but Leo reacted faster, firing two precise rounds that struck Moretti in the chest and shoulder. Moretti collapsed backward onto the concrete floor, his revolver skittering away into the flames.

Dominic walked over, stopping right beside the fallen rival boss. He reached down into Moretti’s coat pocket and pulled out a sleek black USB drive stamped with the Commission’s master seal—the final piece of evidence needed to clear the Bellacorte family name and solidify Dominic's legal ownership of the docks.
Dominic looked down at Moretti. "Season 1 of your war is finished."
