Chapter 10 - The first older incident

There was one earlier incident we could verify.
Seven weeks before the Bentley.
Helena watched Leo for ninety minutes while I attended a video call from the mansion office.
Leo dropped a ceramic serving bowl in the breakfast room.
It shattered.
No injury.
A housekeeper named Irene cleaned it.
She later told investigators:
“Ms. Bellucci made Leo pick up napkins and carry them to the laundry room.”
Not inherently abusive.
Then Helena said:
“Things cost money. You work when you break things.”
Leo spent roughly fifteen minutes carrying folded napkins from one room to another.
Could a parent call that a harmless chore?
Probably.
For a three-year-old, under supervision, maybe.
But afterward Helena withheld his snack for approximately forty minutes because:
“He had not finished.”
I had been twenty yards away in an office.
I knew none of it.
When my meeting ended, Leo ran to me.
Helena said:
“He was naughty but we handled it.”
I thanked her.
That memory became poisonous.
Not because napkins were torture.
Because the structure had already begun.
Mistake.
Debt.
Work.
Food delayed.
I had heard:
We handled it.
May you like
And accepted.
