Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Truth

By six o'clock the following morning, the storm over Manhattan had passed, leaving behind a crisp, sunlit dawn over the city.

The corrupt conspirators had been completely purged. Arthur Vance, Vivienne, and Dr. Vance were taken into federal custody under a mountain of evidence detailing kidnapping, corporate fraud, and attempted assassination.

Inside the grand ballroom of the Bellaro estate, the morning light filtered through the tall stained-glass windows, illuminating the pristine oak floorboards that had been swept clean of all debris.

Standing at the head of the grand hall was Dominic Bellaro. He wore a fresh black tuxedo, his gold cufflinks gleamed in the sunlight, his broad posture radiating the absolute authority of an undisputed king.

Standing directly to his right was Elena Hart. She had discarded her maid uniform forever, wearing an exquisite, floor-length dark emerald velvet gown that draped with regal grace over her frame. Her fair, rosy skin was radiant, her brown hair styled elegantly, her presence commanding and beautiful.

And holding both their hands, standing between them in a brand-new pale-pink lace dress with a silk ribbon in her hair, was seven-year-old Maisie Bellaro.

Standing along the perimeter of the ballroom were fifty senior syndicate captains, regional lieutenants, and household staff—all standing in deep, respectful silence.

Dominic reached into his vest pocket, pulling out the antique silver bracelet that had started it all. He turned to Elena, holding out the silver band.

Gently, tenderly, Dominic wrapped the bracelet around Elena's wrist, clicking the silver clasp shut.

"You were forced to hide in the shadows of this house for six months, Elena," Dominic said, his deep voice carrying clearly across the quiet hall. "Today, you take your rightful place as the co-sovereign of this empire, and the true mother of my child."

Elena looked up into his blue-gray eyes, tears of profound joy shining in her dark eyes. "Thank you, Dominic. For giving me back my life. For giving me back our daughter."

Maisie looked up at both of them, her rosy cheeks glowing with pure happiness. "Are we going to be a real family now, Daddy?"

Dominic dropped to one knee, wrapping his broad, powerful arms around both Elena and Maisie, pulling them flush against his broad chest.

"Yes, princess," Dominic whispered softly into Maisie's hair. "A real family. Forever."

The fifty syndicate captains bowed their heads in unanimous, absolute deference to the new sovereign family.

Suddenly, Frank stepped forward from the doorway, holding a high-tech satellite phone that was ringing with a sharp, encrypted chime.

He walked up to Dominic, bowing his head. "Boss... an encrypted transmission just arrived from the international syndicate council in Rome."

Dominic stood up smoothly, taking the phone and pressing the receiver to his ear.

A smooth, heavily accented European voice spoke through the speaker:

"Don Bellaro... congratulations on securing New York and revealing the Hart bloodline. But the Rome council has just received news that Thomas Hart's secondary vault in Geneva has been unlocked... and the European board is demanding a summit."

Dominic’s dark blue-gray eyes narrowed into razor-sharp focus. He didn't flinch. He didn't show fear. He slowly looked at Elena and Maisie, his posture returning to that of an invincible, unyielding warlord guarding his kingdom.

"Tell Rome," Dominic said quietly, his voice sharp as steel, "that if they want to speak to the Bellaro family... they can come to New York."

He disconnected the call, set the phone down, and wrapped his arm around Elena's waist as the golden morning sun bathed the grand ballroom in warmth, safety, and light.
