Sophia, working inside the main conservatory, had always taught her daughter the restorative properties of nature, but seeing a three-year-old handle the brass basin with such reverence made Isabella tilt her head in quiet skepticism.
Emma reached out with her small, soft hands, carefully lifting Isabella’s bare feet and lowering them gently into the steaming herbal bath. The warm water rippled, floating green leaves and pink petals against Isabella’s fair skin.
Emma looked up into Isabella’s distant eyes, offering a sweet, fearless smile. She began gently massaging the arches of Isabella's feet, smoothing the warm, aromatic water over her ankles with gentle, rhythmic strokes.

Up in the third-floor window, Lorenzo’s expression hardened into a stone mask of bitter pain. Hearing a maid’s child speak so casually of his daughter's condition struck a raw, painful nerve in his chest.
