Chapter 7 - The Poisoned Diagnosis

Lorenzo felt a cold spike of dread run down his spine. "Poisoning?"
"My grandmother was a traditional herbalist in Italy before we moved to New York," Sophia explained, pointing to the handwritten pages of the notebook. "Julianna came to her secretly four years ago because she suspected that Isabella’s sudden illness wasn't natural. My grandmother analyzed Julianna’s blood samples and discovered high levels of a rare, synthetic neurotoxin—a compound that numbs motor nerves without leaving a trace in standard medical panels."
Lorenzo’s mind raced through the past four years. Isabella’s sudden loss of leg function had occurred right after Julianna’s death, diagnosed as 'hysterical trauma paralysis' by their long-time private family physician, Dr. Victor Vance.
"Dr. Vance..." Lorenzo whispered, his jaw setting into a terrifying line of cold fury.

"Dr. Vance has been administering that nerve suppressant to Isabella every week under the guise of 'vitamin therapy,'" Sophia revealed, her eyes burning with righteous anger. "Julianna hid her silver charm with my grandmother on the night she died, knowing that if anything happened to her, the charm held the key to the medical ledger that proves the conspiracy."
Lorenzo picked up the silver charm, inspecting the edges. Pressing his thumb against a hidden catch near the top ring, the filigree star clicked open, revealing a tiny micro-SD memory card hidden within its hollow core.
