Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Matriarch

By seven o'clock in the morning, the golden rays of the rising sun filtered through the high arched windows of the Moretti estate living room, bathing the lavish space in warmth and light.

The damaged gates had been repaired, the traitors purged, and the entire eastern syndicate territory officially unified under the undisputed rule of Victor and Clara Moretti.

Inside the sunlit living room, peace had returned.

Victor sat on the classic white velvet sofa. He had removed his tuxedo jacket, wearing his comfortable black dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscular forearms and luxury watch.

Sitting right beside him on the sofa was Clara. She wore a stunning emerald silk dress—a gift from Victor—her fair rosy skin radiant, her dark hair falling softly over her shoulders as she rested her head against Victor's broad shoulder.

And sitting on the plush rug between them, happily playing with a set of wooden building blocks, was eight-year-old Ellie. She wore her pale-lavender formal dress, a soft smile on her face as she looked up at her parents.

Victor reached out his broad hand, gently wrapping his fingers around Clara's hand resting on his knee. He looked down at the small, old hospital scar near her wrist, pressing a soft kiss against her skin.

"No more secrets, Clara," Victor whispered softly, his deep voice filled with profound warmth. "You are home."

Clara looked up into his dark, piercing eyes, tears of pure joy shining in her eyes. "I remember everything now, Victor. The day we met... the promise you made me... everything."

Ellie looked up from her blocks, her rosy cheeks glowing in the morning sun. "Are we going to be together forever now, Mommy?"

Clara dropped to her knees on the rug, pulling Ellie into her arms and holding her close against her chest. "Yes, my sweet girl. Forever and ever."

Victor leaned down, wrapping his broad, protective arms around both of them, pulling them flush against his chest in a powerful, eternal embrace.

Suddenly, Marcus walked into the living room, holding a high-tech satellite phone that was chiming with a sharp, encrypted ringtone.

He walked up to Victor, bowing his head in deep respect. "Boss... an encrypted satellite transmission just arrived from the international syndicate council in London."

Victor stood up smoothly, taking the phone and pressing the receiver to his ear.

A smooth, heavily accented European voice spoke through the speaker:

"Don Moretti... congratulations on unifying the eastern territory and restoring the Falcone bloodline. But the London council has just received news that Clara's father left a secondary vault in Zurich... and the European directors are demanding an immediate summit."

Victor’s dark eyes narrowed into razor-sharp focus. He did not flinch. He did not show fear. He slowly looked at Clara and Ellie, his broad posture returning to that of an invincible, unyielding warlord guarding his kingdom.

"Tell London," Victor said quietly, his voice sharp as steel, "that if they want to speak to the Moretti family... they can come to New York."

He disconnected the call, set the phone down, and wrapped his arm around Clara's waist as the golden morning sun illuminated their home, casting away every lingering shadow of the past, ready for whatever future lay ahead.
