Chapter 5 - Whispering in the Storm

The threat of a federal seizure order backed by the Falcone syndicate hung over the Moretti estate like an iron weight.
Victor stood behind his massive oak desk, his broad posture radiating an aura of lethal, unyielding authority that made his security team stand at absolute attention.
"Marcus," Victor commanded flatly. "Assemble the vanguard. Every captain, every lieutenant, every soldier. We hold the estate perimeter."
"Boss," Marcus warned softly. "If Falcone comes with federal marshals, fighting back means an open war with the government."
"Falcone doesn't have federal marshals, Marcus," Victor said coldly, his deep voice cutting through the room. "He bribed a corrupt magistrate in Manhattan to sign a fake seizure order. He wants me to abandon the estate so he can breach the subterranean vault."
Clara stepped forward, holding Ellie tight against her side. "What is inside the vault, Victor?"
Victor walked over to the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf behind his chair. He pulled a leather-bound volume of Roman history, pressing a hidden hydraulic lever. The heavy wood paneling swung open, revealing a reinforced elevator shaft descending into the deep bedrock beneath the mansion.
"Inside that vault is the original founding charter of the Moretti dynasty," Victor explained softly. "A document signed by your grandfather forty years ago, Clara."
Clara blinked in utter shock. "My grandfather?"
"Your true name is Clara Falcone-Moretti," Victor revealed, his dark eyes fixed on her with intense solemnity. "Your father was the original sovereign head of the syndicate before Don Falcone staged a coup thirty years ago. When you were born, your father signed a covenant merging our two bloodlines. That is why Celeste stolen you... because as long as you were 'dead', Falcone could claim the legitimate title to the eastern territory."
The horrifying truth hit Clara like a tidal wave. She wasn't just a maid who had suffered amnesia—she was the true, legitimate heiress to the entire eastern syndicate empire!
Ellie looked up at her mother, her brown eyes wide. "Mommy is a queen?"
A rare, genuine smile touched Victor's rugged, bearded face as he looked down at his daughter. "Yes, Ellie. Your mommy is the queen of this house."

Suddenly, the high-voltage perimeter lights outside the estate windows flared blindingly bright, followed by the deafening roar of three armored vehicles breaching the front iron gates.
Heavy automatic gunfire erupted across the front courtyard.
