Chapter 7 - The Chamber of Secrets

By one o'clock in the morning, the perimeter breach had been completely contained.

Loyal Moretti bodyguards who had been misled by Dante were disarmed and interrogated, while the mercenary breachers were secured in the lower holding cells beneath the estate garages.

Inside the subterranean vault, Dante Russo lay bound in heavy steel handcuffs, pinned against a concrete pillar under the watchful guard of two elite Moretti enforcers.

Adrian sat behind the vault terminal, his dark suit jacket unbuttoned, his black hat set on the desk. Dr. Reynolds had arrived under heavy escort, re-examining Adrian’s vitals and treating the minor injuries from the scuffle.

Elena sat on the leather sofa, gently smoothing down Sophia's dark hair as the little girl rested her head on her mother's lap, fast asleep with her teddy bear held tight. Titan lay curled up on the rug at Sophia's feet, his heavy head resting on her white shoes like an eternal sentinel.

Adrian looked up from the master server monitor as Frank, his senior intelligence officer, stepped into the vault holding a sealed leather folder.

"Boss," Frank reported, bowing his head respectfully. "We recovered Dante’s private satellite phone and decrypted his private comms."

Adrian took the folder, opening the pages under the white halogen desk light.

As his eyes scanned the printed messages, his blue-gray eyes narrowed into razor-sharp focus.

The messages revealed that Dante hadn't acted alone. He had been receiving direct orders and financial backing from Lord Valenti—a high-ranking member of the Syndicate High Council in Rome.

And the final message, sent three days ago, contained a horrifying truth:

Marcus Moretti did not die in a car accident five years ago. His vehicle was sabotaged by Lord Valenti's operatives to prevent Marcus from uniting the American families.

Adrian’s jaw set like iron. His broad chest heaved as a cold, terrifying fury settled deep within his soul. His brother hadn't died by chance—he had been assassinated.

Adrian slowly closed the folder. He stood up from his chair, walking over to the sofa where little Sophia lay sleeping in her pink floral puff-sleeve dress.

He dropped to one knee, looking at his late brother's daughter—the innocent child who carried the blood of the true sovereign line.

"Frank," Adrian commanded softly, his deep voice carrying an absolute, unyielding authority.

"Yes, Boss?"

"Convene the full American Syndicate Council in the grand ballroom tomorrow at noon," Adrian ordered. "It's time to crown the true heir of the Moretti dynasty."
