Chapter 10 - The Threshold of Truth

Two weeks later, the morning sun broke brightly over the New York skyline, bathing the Moretti estate in warm, golden light.
The legal storm had finally settled. Derek Morrison, disgraced by public revelations of his involvement with an indicted syndicate operative, had fled the state after surrendering all parental claims to Baby Lily. Brittany Hale and her co-conspirators were facing federal racketeering and conspiracy charges.
In the grand study overlooking the garden, Luca sat behind his massive oak desk.
Standing before him was Emma, looking radiant in a soft blue dress, holding a healthy, smiling Baby Lily. On the desk lay the official, state-sealed birth certificate.
Luca picked up his pen and signed his name on the designated line—not just as a protector, but as Lily’s legal, official father.
He stood up, walking around the desk to stand before Emma.
"You don't have to stay here if you want to build a life elsewhere, Emma," Luca said softly, his dark eyes searching hers with rare vulnerability. "The family trust is fully secured in your name. You and Lily are financially independent for life."
Emma looked down at the birth certificate, then up into Luca’s handsome, steadfast face. She reached out, placing her soft hand over his broad chest, feeling the steady, warm beat of his heart.
"My mother spent her life running from this family because she was afraid," Emma murmured, her voice full of emotion. "But I’ve never felt safer anywhere in my life than I do right here with you, Luca."
A rare, beautiful smile broke across Luca’s handsome face. He leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on Baby Lily’s forehead, then wrapped his strong arm around Emma’s waist, pulling her close against his side.

"Then this is where you stay," Luca whispered against her hair. "Both of you."
Outside, the birds sang in the morning breeze over the sprawling grounds, marking the beginning of a new chapter—a dynasty restored, a child protected, and a love forged in the fires of New York.
