Chapter 19 - Vesper sues the company

Vesper filed suit against Marlowe Holdings and the foundation.
Claims:
Wrongful removal under committee agreements.
Breach of implied compensation commitments.
Selective enforcement.
Retaliation based on family dispute.
She also sought declaration that certain Elara-derived materials could not be used due confidentiality/privilege.
Some claims failed early.
Some survived.
The selective-enforcement claim had teeth.
Why?
Because audit found other family members had undisclosed vendor relationships.
My cousin Julian Marlowe owned part of a landscaping company used at two hotels.
Disclosure incomplete.
My older uncle received consulting fees from a marina maintenance contractor.
Smaller amounts.
No Vesper-level committee influence.
Still violations.
If only Vesper punished, she could argue family vendetta.
So board reviewed everyone.
Julian lost vendor oversight role for one year and repaid:
$14,000
in improperly allocated travel.
Uncle paid:
$22,000
and ended consulting arrangement.
Another relative cleared because disclosure had actually been made.
That weakened Vesper’s selective-enforcement claim.
Then my own related-party issue.
A logistics company owned by an old friend received contracts.
No financial payment to me.
But I had recommended them.
Disclosure made? Yes.
No violation.
Then Vesper’s lawyers requested my text messages with Elara from years earlier.
Relevant to alleged vendetta and interpretation of restrictions.
Painful.
Court ordered narrow production.
One text from me to Elara:
Stop hunting Vesper. She is family.
Elara:
That is why you need controls.
Vesper’s lawyer loved it.
It showed bias?
It showed I resisted investigation.
Could help them argue Elara targeted Vesper personally.
Could also show exact governance failure.
Litigation never gives one side every document.
Then Isolde’s name appeared in pleadings.
We moved to protect minor identity beyond what already public.
