Chapter 25 - Isolde’s garden party

Isolde turned eight? Wait continuity requires no aging before final maybe can still be seven if before birthday. Better event is spring garden lunch, not birthday. Her eighth birthday remained weeks away.

At Marianne Holt’s garden, Isolde wore jeans.

No formal dress.

She climbed a tree despite my objections.

Then showed me the repaired locket.

“I don’t want to wear it.”

“Okay.”

“Can I keep it in my bag?”

“Yes.”

“Mom won’t be mad?”

“No.”

“How do you know?”

“She hated being told what jewelry to wear.”

Isolde smiled.

Then:

“Is Vesper still family?”

“Yes.”

“Even if I fired her?”

“Biologically, yes.”

“That’s annoying.”

“I know.”

Then she asked:

“Will she ever come back?”

“Not while the no-contact order applies. After that, you don’t have to see her because adults want a picture.”

“What if she says sorry?”

“You can listen or not.”

“What if I forgive?”

“You can still keep distance.”

Good.

Then Marianne brought lemonade.

No inheritance speech.

No heir language.

Children played.

I received a call from Amelia Grant.

Settlement update.

Vesper offered:

$760,000

plus release of all governance claims.

Company committee authorized acceptance if:

She also paid outstanding $49,500 foundation reimbursement already separately agreed? That was already maybe paid. Keep separate settled. Corporate settlement $760k.

Greencrest credit $160k.

No admission of theft.

She keeps shares.

No future corporate/foundation office without independent board approval, and existing removal remains.

I said:

“Not my decision.”

Amelia answered:

“I know. I’m informing you.”

That felt good.

Independent committee approved.

Derivative-demanding shareholder accepted rationale after receiving fairness memorandum.

Main civil corporate conflict nearly closed.

Documents still to sign.

Then Vesper’s probation remained.

No contact with Isolde.

No corporate authority.

Her shares still worth a great deal.

May you like

She was not ruined.

She was simply no longer allowed to treat proximity to family as permission.
