Chapter 10 - The True Heir's Victory

Three months later, a brilliant, warm spring sun shone over the manicured lawns of the Hudson Valley estate.
The dark clouds that had shadowed the family for fifteen years were completely gone. Marcus Russo was serving a thirty-year sentence in federal maximum-security prison, the clean energy grid was officially launched under Hart-Russo Energy, and peace had returned to the family.
The abandoned Hudson Valley estate had been completely restored into a world-class scientific research academy named the William Hart Institute of Lost Languages.
Out on the sunlit stone terrace overlooking the green valley, fourteen-year-old Olivia stood near a stone balustrade wearing an elegant cream summer dress, her long brown hair catching the warm breeze as she looked at a fresh drawing of her father.
Walking out onto the terrace in a dark navy suit was Dominic Russo. He looked relaxed, handsome, and genuinely happy, his sharp gray eyes filled with deep, unshakeable fatherly pride.
Dominic walked up beside her, placing a broad, gentle hand on her shoulder.
"The board approved the global scholarship foundation this morning, Olivia," Dominic informed her softly. "One hundred young scholars will receive full grants to study ancient history under Professor Whitman."
Olivia looked up at Dominic, a bright, beautiful smile touching her fair face. "My father would have loved that, Dominic."
Dominic reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a set of official legal adoption and guardianship papers signed by the New York State Supreme Court.
"You are fifty percent owner of this company, Olivia," Dominic murmured gently, his deep voice thick with emotion. "But under this roof... you are my daughter. Forever."
Olivia threw her arms around Dominic’s broad waist, hugging him tightly as tears of pure happiness spilled down her cheeks. Dominic wrapped his broad, powerful arms around her, holding her close against his chest as the warm afternoon sun bathed them in light.
Suddenly, Professor Whitman walked out onto the stone terrace, carrying a heavy black leather envelope stamped with a red wax seal—a crest depicting a golden compass holding a second journal from a vault in Geneva.
Whitman handed the envelope to Dominic, his expression filled with quiet wonder. "Dominic... this just arrived via private courier from Switzerland. It was stored in William's secondary bank vault."
Dominic broke the heavy wax seal and pulled out a single sheet of heavy parchment written in fine, gold calligraphy.
He read the first two lines, a quiet, subtle smile touching his sharp features as he looked at Olivia.
Written on the parchment were only two sentences:
"To Don Dominic Russo: The debt of Manhattan is settled, and Olivia's legacy is secure. But William Hart's secondary archive in Geneva has just been unlocked by a second child's record."
Olivia looked at Dominic, her soft brown eyes sparkling with curiosity and sudden wonder. "Dominic? What does it say?"

Dominic slowly folded the black parchment, slipped it into his suit pocket, and wrapped his broad arm around Olivia's shoulder, pulling her close against his side as they looked out toward the endless, sparkling blue horizon of the Hudson Valley.
"It seems our story has one more beautiful chapter to write, my daughter," Dominic whispered softly into the warm summer breeze, holding her close as the afternoon sun bathed them in eternal golden light.
