Chapter 8 - The Siege of Lake Forest

Before Julian could give the command to fire, the headlights of eight massive armored SUVs illuminated the dark tree line behind Julian's vehicles.
The secondary perimeter gates swung shut, locking Julian's strike force inside the courtyard. Over thirty elite Valenti enforcers stepped out from the surrounding tree line, weapons raised in absolute tactical lockdown.
Julian’s cruel smile vanished instantly. His face turned as pale as ash as he realized he had driven straight into a trap.
"Fire! Kill them!" Julian screamed in panic.
A brief, intense firefight erupted across the rain-swept courtyard. Marco and Dominic moved with swift, lethal efficiency. Dominic advanced through the crossfire like an unstoppable force of nature, taking down two mercenaries who tried to rush the stone porch, his movements precise and relentless.
Within four minutes, the gunfire ceased. The rain washed over the paved driveway as Julian’s disarmed mercenaries were forced onto their knees by Marco’s team.
Julian scrambled toward his SUV, trying to reach his sidearm, but a heavy hand grabbed him by his wool collar, lifting him off his feet and slamming him violently against the hood of the vehicle.
Dominic stood over the traitor, his black shirt soaked with rain, his dark eyes burning with an unholy, terrifying fury.
Julian gasped for air, staring up at the crime lord in absolute terror. "Dominic... please! I served your father for twenty years! I spared her life four years ago! I could have killed her!"
Dominic leaned down, his voice dropping into a low, terrifying whisper that sent a chill through Julian's soul.
"You didn't spare her life, Julian," Dominic growled. "You stole three years of bedtime stories from me. You stole three years of holding my daughter."
Dominic tightened his grip, signaling two federal marshals who stepped out from Marco's secondary vehicle.
"Take him," Dominic ordered coldly. "Ensure every illegal offshore account he operated is seized by federal prosecutors before sunrise."

Julian was dragged away in heavy steel handcuffs, screaming threats that dissolved into the sound of the falling rain.
Dominic turned toward the grand mansion, wiping the rain from his face, his chest rising and falling as peace finally settled over his estate.
