Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Dawn

Elliot sprinted up the grand marble staircase three steps at a time, his heart hammering in his chest like a war drum.
He burst into the library, stepping up to the panic room control panel. He punched his master voice code into the speaker: "Elliot-Alpha-Zero."
The heavy steel deadbolts retracted with a loud mechanical thud, and the reinforced door swung open.
Clara sat inside, clutching Norah tightly in her arms. Both of them were safe, unharmed, looking up at him with wide, emotional eyes.
"Elliot!" Clara cried out, rushing forward and throwing her arms around his neck.
Elliot wrapped his broad arms around both Clara and Norah, pulling them flush against his chest, letting out a long, shuddering breath of pure relief. "You're safe. Thank God, you're safe."
"Who were those men?" Clara asked, stepping back and looking into his rugged face.
"Julian," Elliot said quietly, his dark eyes grim. "Richard's twin brother. He led the assault himself."
"Is he...?" Clara asked, her voice trailing off.
"He's neutralized," Elliot replied. "Federal marshals are already on the property clearing the perimeter."
Ten minutes later, the estate was flooded with the blue and red flashing lights of federal law enforcement vehicles. Tactical teams secured the grounds, while medical personnel attended to the scene.
Elliot, Clara, and Norah stood out on the grand stone terrace, wrapped in warm wool blankets as the first golden rays of dawn began to break over the Hudson River. The morning air was crisp, washing away the smell of smoke and rain.
Norah sat on Elliot's shoulders, holding his dark hair with her tiny hands, giggling softly as she looked at the rising sun.
Clara leaned against Elliot's side, holding his hand tightly, her fair rosy skin glowing in the fresh morning light.
"It's really over this time, isn't it?" Clara asked softly, looking up at him.
Elliot looked down at her, his icy blue eyes filled with an undeniable, unyielding warmth that wiped away four years of pain and darkness. He pulled her close, pressing a gentle kiss against her lips.
"It's over, Clara," Elliot whispered against her cheek. "Nadine, Julian, the foundation... none of them can ever touch us again. This house, this life... it belongs to us."
Norah reached down, patting the top of her father's head. "Daddy is the strongest dragon in the world!"
Elliot let out a deep, genuine laugh—a sound that echoed warmly across the stone terrace—and reached up to hold his daughter's tiny shoes.
As the golden sunlight fully illuminated the grand stone manor, casting away every lingering shadow of the past, Elliot’s encrypted satellite phone chimed in his pocket.
He pulled it out, glancing at the screen. A new text message had arrived from an untraceable international server:

Elliot offered a faint, satisfied smile. He closed the phone screen, slipping it into his jacket pocket, and put his arm around Clara's waist as they walked back inside their home, ready to build a future that no shadow could ever touch.
