Chapter 7 - the assault on the gate

By four in the morning, the rain had stopped, leaving a quiet, cool mist hovering over Manhattan.
A private convoy of heavy armored SUVs delivered Gabriel, Claire, and the three boys to the Cross estate on Long Island—a massive stone manor surrounded by high iron gates, dense forests, and top-tier security systems.
Inside the sprawling master suite on the second floor, Ethan, Noah, and Lucas were back asleep in a massive canopy bed, safe and protected.
Downstairs in the private medical study, Dr. Mercer—Gabriel’s trusted personal physician—was reviewing a series of rapid DNA and genealogical files on a glowing terminal screen.
Gabriel stood beside Claire near the mahogany desk, holding a cup of fresh coffee.
"Is it true, Mercer?" Gabriel asked softly.
Dr. Mercer adjusted his wire-rimmed glasses, looking up with an expression of pure awe. "It’s beyond true, Gabriel. Claire’s late mother was Lady Eleanor Bennett of the British sovereign branch. The Bennett family founded the central vault in Geneva eighty years ago."
Claire stood frozen, her hand resting against her champagne dress. "My mother... was a sovereign heir? She told me she was a simple schoolteacher from London!"
"She hid her identity to escape the syndicate wars of the 1970s, Claire," Dr. Mercer explained, turning the screen so they could see the official golden seal. "When you married Gabriel six years ago, it wasn't just a marriage of love. It was unknowingly the union of the two most powerful bloodlines in modern history. And your three sons... Ethan, Noah, and Lucas... are the sole living keys to an empire worth over fifty billion dollars."
Gabriel looked at Claire, a look of deep, overwhelming reverence in his dark eyes. He reached out, taking her soft hand in his broad, warm palm.
"Arthur Vale knew this five years ago," Gabriel realized smoothly. "He forced you into hiding not just to strip me of my happiness... but to keep the Bennett bloodline hidden until he could manufacture a legal loophole to seize the Geneva trust."

Claire looked up into Gabriel’s eyes, tears spilling over her rosy cheeks. "All those years I thought I was alone, Gabriel... fighting to survive in Maine..."
Gabriel pulled her close, wrapping his strong arms around her waist, tucking her head against his broad chest. "You are never going to be alone again, Claire. I swear on my life, no one will ever touch you or our sons ever again."
