Chapter 8 - the fall of the traitor

By seven o'clock the following morning, the sun broke through the storm clouds over Boston, casting a brilliant golden light across the rain-washed city skyline.
Inside the grand executive boardroom on the top floor of Moretti International Shipping headquarters, thirty senior board members, shareholders, and international delegates gathered around a massive mahogany conference table.
Silas Moretti’s legal team sat at the end of the table, attempting to present a fraudulent power-of-attorney motion to seize control of the European shipping lines.
Suddenly, the heavy double oak doors of the boardroom swung open.
Damon Moretti walked down the center aisle, radiating an absolute, overwhelming authority. He wore a pristine black three-piece suit, his long dark wavy hair styled back, his posture tall and unyielding.
Walking beside him, holding his hand with graceful dignity, was Alina Rossi. She wore an exquisite navy blue dress, her dark-brown hair falling softly over her shoulders, her presence proud and beautiful.
Behind them walked Dante, holding three-year-old Mia in his arms. Mia wore her pale pink floral dress, holding her cream stuffed rabbit, looking curiously at the flashing media cameras.
The entire boardroom fell dead silent.
Damon stepped onto the main stage, leading Alina to the central podium. He adjusted the microphone, his deep baritone voice booming through every speaker in the hall.
"This board meeting is officially adjourned," Damon announced calmly. "Silas Moretti has been arrested by federal marshals on charges of first-degree murder, corporate fraud, and illegal weapons trafficking."
Gasps echoed across the room as the digital screen behind Damon lit up, displaying the unredacted European registry deed and the financial audit proving Silas's crimes.
"And as majority owner holding sixty percent of all voting stock," Damon continued, his gray-blue eyes sweeping over the silent board members, "I officially appoint Alina Rossi as senior trustee of the Moretti European Foundation."
The delegates stood up from their seats, breaking into resounding applause as federal agents escorted Silas's remaining corporate conspirators out of the building.
Damon turned to Alina, taking her hands into his large, warm grip.

"You are no longer a housekeeper, Alina," Damon whispered softly. "You are the head of this foundation."
Alina looked into his handsome, rugged face, tears of profound joy filling her dark eyes. "Thank you, Damon... for everything."
