Chapter 10 - The Unspoken Vow

Dr. Cole’s calm facade crumbled completely. He backed up a step, looking between Marcus and Lorenzo, realizing there was no escape from the Rossi estate.
"It wasn't personal, Lorenzo," Dr. Cole stammered, his polished hands shaking visibly. "The Moretti syndicate... they didn't just want your heir dead. They wanted a replacement baby ready in case you discovered the plot! They paid me to secure a healthy infant from the public ward on the same night Leo was born prematurely."
Elena let out a sharp gasp, covering her mouth as the horrific truth hit her like a thunderbolt.
"My daughter..." Elena sobbed, her whole body shaking. "My daughter didn't die?"
"She was taken," Dr. Cole confessed, his head bowing in shame. "She was placed with a private family in Connecticut under the Moretti network to be used as leverage against the Rossi family when the time was right. I replaced her with a deceased infant in the ward and forged the records!"
Lorenzo stood up slowly, his dark eyes burning with absolute, lethal fury. The entire conspiracy was laid bare: Dr. Cole had been playing both sides, orchestrating the slow poisoning of Leo while holding Elena’s stolen daughter in reserve for rival mob bosses.
"Marcus," Lorenzo said, his voice carrying the finality of a judge passing sentence. "Take Dr. Cole down to the lower vaults. He will give you the exact address of that family in Connecticut within the next ten minutes, or he will never see the light of day again."
"With pleasure, Boss," Marcus said, grabbing Cole by the collar and dragging him out into the dark hallway.
The study fell into a profound, breathless quiet, save for the sound of rain beating against the glass.
Elena sank into a armchair, her mind spinning with a chaotic mix of overwhelming hope and unimaginable shock. Her daughter was alive.
Lorenzo walked over and knelt beside her chair, placing his warm, powerful hand over hers.
"We are going to get your daughter back tonight, Elena," Lorenzo vowed softly, his dark eyes looking directly into hers with an intensity that made her heart leap. "You saved my son. I will tear this city apart until your daughter is back in your arms."
Elena looked at him, seeing the fierce, unwavering protector beneath the feared mob boss. "And what happens after that, Lorenzo?"
Lorenzo stepped closer, taking her hand gently in his, his thumb softly brushing her knuckles.

"After that," Lorenzo murmured, his voice low and full of unspoken promise, "you and your daughter stay right here. With me and Leo. Because nobody touches my family ever again."
Outside, the storm raged on, but inside the mansion, a new, unbreakable bond had been forged in the dark—setting the stage for a reckoning that New York would never forget.
