Chapter 6 - Shadows on the Estate Grounds

Over the next three weeks, the atmosphere inside the Rossi estate shifted dramatically.
Under Elena’s constant care, baby Leo transformed. He gained healthy weight, his rosy skin grew vibrant, and his quiet whimpers were replaced by bright, curious coos. Elena spent her days in the sunlit nursery, surrounding the baby with gentle warmth, all while nursing her own healing heart.
Lorenzo, a man who rarely visited the upper floors during daylight hours, began appearing in the nursery every evening after his business meetings.
He would remove his black jacket, roll up the sleeves of his crisp white shirt, revealing the intricate ink along his forearms, and sit silently beside Elena, watching his son sleep.
"You have a gift with him, Elena," Lorenzo said one evening, his deep voice filling the quiet room.
"He just needed someone to listen to what he was feeling, Mr. Rossi," Elena replied, adjusting Leo’s soft blanket.
Lorenzo looked at her, taking in her dark brown hair tied in its practical bun, her soft features, and the quiet dignity she maintained despite her position. A rare, subtle warmth softened his intimidating presence.

"Call me Lorenzo," he said softly. "When we are in this room, you are not a worker. You are the reason my son is alive."
Before Elena could answer, Marcus knocked on the doorframe, his face tense. "Boss, we have a problem. The night nurse opened her mouth during interrogation. She gave us a name, but it doesn't make sense."
